The Essex League, the Mini-League and the Club Championships are fast-paced, team and social events.   One of the primary goals for swimmers participating in these galas is the development of team-spirit, supporting and encouraging each other and enjoying social time together.

In particular, older, more experienced swimmers provide an example for younger, less experienced swimmers.

Mobile phone policy at the Essex League, the Mini-League and the Club Championships

Swimmers will not be permitted to have mobile phones on poolside at these events.

Mobile phones should be given to the responsible adult prior to the swimmer coming on poolside.  If this is not practical, the phone should be given to a team manager for the duration of the event.

At Open Meets, where there can be long periods of waiting, mobile phone use will continue to be allowed, subject to the specific rules at the meet. We would encourage minimal use of phones at open meets to encourage swimmers to engage with each other, learn from each other and from the rising stars at these events.
