Frequently Asked Questions

What squad should I choose? How many times a week will my child train?

At Brentwood Swimming Club, we have six squads, including Masters. Details of the squads and the number of weekly training sessions can be found on the training timetable. For new members, our coach will invite you for a trial and will determine which squad is best for you. For current swimmers, our coaches are regularly assessing your performance and when you are ready, they will invite you to bridge up to the next squad.

What equipment do I need to swim?

Does the club offer swimming lessons?

The club does not provide swimming lessons. However, the Brentwood Centre, where all our training takes place, does offer a swim school. More details can be found here.

How do I sign up for swimming competitions?

Please refer to our galas page for details of the events that we will enter as a club. You are always welcome to attend other events as an individual swimmer. Our coaches are available to advise you on which races you should sign up for.

How can parents get involved in the club?

Operating a swimming club can at times require a large number of volunteers across a variety of roles. For example, providing simple time trials for swimmers in the pool can require 6 - 12 timers, 1-2 people recording and collating times, and a starter. The more parents that can help, even in a limited capacity, the more the burden is shared and the more activities we are able to support as a club.

If you feel you might be able to get involved, initially discuss this with any of the committee who will be able to go through options based on time you are able to commit.
